For one magical evening, employees transform Beach Court into a
winter wonderland for students, families and teachers
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Dec 13, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
For six years running, employees with TeleTech Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:
TTEC), a global business process outsourcing company headquartered in
Englewood, have opted-out of the traditional corporate holiday party in
favor of its Spirit of the Season event that creates a holiday
experience for community members in need. This year, TeleTech will host
the students, families and teachers of Beach Court Elementary School, an
inner city elementary school in northwest Denver, on Monday, December 13
at 5:30 p.m.
Over 200 TeleTech employees and their family members will transform
Beach Court Elementary into a winter wonderland in time for an
all-school holiday celebration, donating 1,500 hours to make the event a
success. The Spirit of the Season event will include a holiday meal,
photos with Santa, face painting, holiday crafts, games and gifts for
both the children and their families.
Working with the Denver Public Schools Foundation, TeleTech selected
Beach Court Elementary, a 350-student school near Federal Boulevard and
Interstate 70 in northwest Denver. Half of Beach Court's students are
native Spanish speakers and second-language learners. In addition, 96
percent of the students' families are considered economically
disadvantaged which qualifies these students for free/reduced lunch
through federal meal benefits.
Despite the language and economic challenges, students at Beach Court
obtained the highest growth in CSAP scores in the state of Colorado in
reading, writing and mathematics in 2010. Under the leadership of a
visionary principal and a dedicated, student-centered teaching and
support staff, the school's proficiency rates have climbed an average of
43% in reading, writing and mathematics in the last four years.
Approximately 80% of Beach Court's students have achieved proficiency
and above in reading and mathematics.
"We are impressed with the incredible achievements at Beach Court
Elementary," said Kenneth Tuchman, TeleTech chairman and chief executive
officer. "Their principal talks about the relentless focus and
dedication of his talented staff and families to consistently believe in
the students and work with them to achieve more. It is our honor to
recognize and support that level of commitment through this holiday
event and donation."
The Spirit of the Season event is designed to recognize the school's
significant achievements made in recent years and to support continued
success at Beach Court. In addition to the party, the TeleTech Community
Foundation will be donating new computers to the school's computer lab
and nearly 4,000 books to be distributed across the school's 15
classrooms from kindergarten through fifth grade. The books have been
specially selected to support the school's reading program which
includes differentiated instruction in small group settings to reach all
reading levels within a classroom and will be accompanied with
comprehensive teacher guides. The books and computers will provide
learning tools that will benefit the students of Beach Court for years
to come.
